In 1969, Dahlquist Machine started in a garage with one manual mill and over the past 50 years, we have grown into a 40+ employee company known in the industry for our Green Tag guarantee and dedication to providing the best service and parts to our customers.

Dahlquist Machine is an ISO 9000:2008 compliant precision machining company located in the northern suburb of Ham Lake, Minnesota. We deliver high-quality parts in small- and medium-sized batches with quick turn-around time and your needs in mind.

Our History

Company founded by Donald G. Dahlquist with one manual Mill in a garage at his residence in Coon Rapids MN (1969)


The company bought its first NC tape Mill and put it in the same garage along with the first manual mill


Moved to a new location in Ham Lake leasing a small corner from another machine shop


Bought  our second NC mill and ran it at a new residential garage in Ham Lake


Built a new 2700 square foot block building next to the garage in Ham Lake and moved all equipment to the new building
Added 4 CNC mills and two manual lathes to the production fleet. Added a CMM to the quality department. (1982-1991)


Don’s two sons Jeff and Brad came to work for the company


Don died after a short fight with cancer.  His son Jeff bought the business and took over.


The business moved to its current location, a new 10,000 square foot building, one block away. First Machine shop in the state to incorporate energy saving geothermal heating and cooling.
Added Automatic saw, 4 new CNC mills and one CNC lathe. Added the first CNC CMM to the quality department. Started shipping to Canada to our first foreign customer. (1994-2000)


Added 8500 square feet to the existing building for a total of 18,500. Employee count jumps to 17.


Added 2 more CNC lathes, 1 Horizontal mill, and 2 cnc mills. Employee count jumps to 24.


Added another 12,000 Square foot addition for a total of 30,000.  Added customers from the east coast of the United States, India, and Germany.
Added 3 horizontal mills, 6 CNC Turn-Mills, and 4 new vertical CNC mills. Also added a second CMM and a vision inspection system to the quality control department. Employee count jumps to 40. (2012-2018)

Jeff Dahlquist


Jeff attended NDSU and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an Engineer for Medical, Industrial, and Office Equipment companies before joining Dahlquist Machine full time in 1988.
